Reconstruction, Etching and Drypoint with Hand Color, Edition of 17, 2021

I was really excited by a pair of second hand boots I found. Generally I’m fascinated by the way footwear seems to transmute the foot—literally pedestrian, can arguably be pretty ugly, very complicated form— into an object like no other apparel can. Trainers confer some idea of speed or readiness, while a big and ostentatiously fragile (a thin slip of heel! white leather!) boot seems to mock the idea of daily human life.
